Refractometers & Brix Intro Discussion with Jason & Katy Eagle
When: Tuesday, June 18, 2019, from 7-9pm
Where: 895 W Romeo Rd, Oakland, MI 48363-1441 [ map ]
Dan Kittredge often refers to brix and the use of refractometers in his presentations, but what are these things and how can knowing about them help us grow better, healthier plants?
Hosted by Jason and Katy Eagle on their farm in Oakland Township, this meeting will help us answer these questions through discussion and hands-on demos on the use of refractometers in assessing plant health and crop quality through plant sap readings,.
Bring your refractometer if you have one, and we’ll have some on hand to try out if you don’t. We will be explore calibrating, demo the use of temperature correction scales, and discuss aspects such as timing, leaf location and weather factors in sampling and readings. It might also be fun to test some store produce as well: fruit, celery, greens, carrots, etc. Bring some along if you’re curious.
