Momentum

It’s building.

Word is spreading.

At the BFA, it’s been our mission to improve food quality since 2010. And in 2021, we made significant strides toward this vision.

This year…

We started an institute!
The Bionutrient Institute replaced the Real Food Campaign and offers us an increased capacity to study links between land management to nutrient quality in food.

We opened a new lab! We established a new laboratory near Boston, MA, that will allow us to study thousands more compounds in food and soil with robust equipment.

We built a second-generation Bionutrient meter! The new meter is in the hands of over one hundred fifty BFA members worldwide. It is now calibrated for ten crops. (Very exciting!)

We expanded our team! We now have an Operations director, executive assistant, project manager, and communications team.

We developed new software! In line with our values of “open source,” the “Data Explorer” was launched to be able to interrogate the full suite of soil, crop and management data in relation to itself.

We hosted the 10th annual Soil & Nutrition Conference! Over 750 registrants from more than 30 countries attended this year's virtual conference and occurred over eight months. It was an amazing global community experience!

We want to build upon our momentum into 2022, but we need your help to do it!

With your support in 2022, we will…

Define nutrient density in beef!

In 2021, we launched the beef study, designed with leading researchers in this field. It’s our first attempt with the explicit goal of defining nutrient density. By the end of 2022, we hope to have this first standard developed.

Build our chapters and membership!

The BFA has been recognized for hosting courses, conferences, and local chapters around regenerative and biological agriculture. In 2022, we plan to launch a new and improved capacity for engagement. This includes new software for connectivity and organizing.

Launch the “Digital Coffeeshop”!

Designed with our core partners, this is an exciting development for growers globally to share and learn from each other about results and practices. It will be built for farmers of all scales, companies, organizations, governmental agencies, and scientists to more easily collaborate to study soil, crops, and management practices.

Publish our findings!

With four years of data, we aspire to publish the full scope of our work in peer-reviewed journals.

Improve the Bionutrient Meter!

In 2022, we plan to build out the meter so that it’s iOS-compatible and increase the number of crops it can provide readings for, beyond the current ten, for which it is currently calibrated.

Build a grassroots movement!

It’s time to tell the story of Bionutrient and empower eaters globally to find food that’s nutrient dense and tell their friends.

In 2022, we intend to formalize the partnerships and raise funds necessary to define nutrient density in agriculture’s top twenty crops globally over the next three to five years.

Historically, we’ve been a bootstrap organization. Despite economic limitations over the years, our vision has continued to be realized. A generous grant in early 2021 allowed us to grow and build a strong foundation for 2022 and beyond.

When we make the purpose of agriculture nutrient density, we build soil, community, and health and strengthen our connectivity with Nature.

Now more than ever, we understand that biological and regenerative agriculture is the systemic answer for a changing climate and supporting human health, and in 2022 we intend to magnify our efforts.

We have two end-of-year contribution offers of $25,000 and $30,000 - Will you help us match them today with a donation? To donate, click here.

Thank you to those who helped us build this momentum over the years. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Executive director, Bionutrient Food Association

P.S. Please consider giving a recurring donation of any amount. Every bit counts. This allows us to plan for our year ahead and focus our efforts on the work at hand. Thank you!
